Hazratbal is believed to be the most sacred mosque in Kashmir. A large number of people choose to visit it. The Muslim faithful do this. It is known as Hazratbal Dargah in the local language. Hazratbal Shrine, on the shore of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir, is very important because it houses a sacred relic, a brown hair, or the Moi-e-Muqaddas, of the Prophet Muhammad. It is this quaint town that has an interesting past.
For centuries, the hair was in the hands of some of the descendants of the Prophet until it came into the hands of Syed Abdullah, the keeper of the Prophet’s mosque in Medina. Abdullah left Mecca, arrived in India in 1634 AD, and resided in Bijapur, the capital of the fledgling Muslim kingdom of the South, where he was at the time. When Abdullah died, his son and heir, Syed Hamid, inherited the holy relic. It is also one of the highlighted places in your Jammu and Kashmir trip package.

But he was not able to take care of it. So he sold it to another businessman, Khwaja Nur-ud-din, with the Mughal Emperor being Aurangzeb.
When Aurangzeb got to know about the memorial, he immediately not only seized it but also sentenced Khwaja Nur-ud-din Eshai. In the year 1700, the monument was brought back to Kashmir with the dead body of Khwaja Nur-ud-din Eshai, who died in prison. Since his daughter, Inayat Begum, became the official guardian of the coffin of Janibi Baba, She built the shrine, and thus the Banday family owns it. Once you visit the Srinagar trip, do visit.
