Athirapally Falls and Vazhachal Falls

Everyone has watched the billion-dollar movie Bahubali and everyone must remember the iconic scene where the actor carries a giant Shivling on his shoulders. But have you wondered where the waterfall in the background of this shot is situated? It is none other than the Athirapally Falls of Kerala.

A top spot for movie makers in the country, both of these wonders of nature are situated within a 5km range from each other and are iconic sights of Kerala. Originating from the Western Ghats and located on the Chalakudy River, these waterfalls are major tourist attractions and for all the right reasons. Set above 300 feet of the sea floor, flowing and foaming with white hues, surrounded by thick forests and misty skies, the view is just stunning.

The forests house hundreds of species of flora and fauna, most known to have herbal and healing properties and the neighboring markets offer a sample or two for you to take home from your trip to Kerala.

Standing near the waterfalls with tiny droplets of water brushing your cheeks, the magical sounds of the water crashing into the bottom, and the fresh air cutting through hundreds of trees is a rejuvenating sensation.
